a bit about

Barry studied Illustration at Loughborough University and has been drawing and painting all kinds of illustration projects for over twenty years.

Barry's first commissions were for greetings cards and for magazines including Condé Nast Traveller, Trailfinders, Good Housekeeping, Country Living and Homes & Gardens. A passion for book illustration led him to children's publishing where his work has featured in over fifty titles published around the world.

His illustrated books include young reader adaptations of Charles Dickens novels, pop-up and lift the flap board books, poetry compilations and search and find books on William Shakespeare, famous buildings, castles, histories of Britain and London, ancient China and ancient Greece.

Barry draws all his illustrations in pencil on cartridge paper before colouring up digitally and loves creating immersive, lively, atmospheric scenes with lots of detail.

His clients include; Scholastic, Usborne Publishing, Hodder & Stoughton, Harper Collins, BBC, Oxford university Press, Watermark, Cambridge University Press, Pearson, Orion Publishing, Fernleigh Books, EMAP, Bolinda, Hungry Tomato, EDCO and Kingfisher.
